A Brief History of Revolutions

https://vimeo.com/42802011

I’m loving this short video on revolutions.
Are videos the new infographics?

(I might be biased because my very talented sister Daisy made this)

Summer Wedges

Summer is almost here, or so I like to think. This means that the search for the perfect summer wedge is on. Every year I go on the hunt for that shoe that is comfy enough for the whole day, and manages to carry me from day to night. Few succeed and I often find myself buying flats in the middle of a hot NY summer day when the failing ones let me down. Here are the finalists for Summer 2011. Some are out of budget, but a girl is always allowed to dream.

Click on the pics for more info on each.

Oh, and just in case you forgot, I’m a 6.5 and I accept gifts.

My Blue Period

If you’ve been to my apartment, you’ll notice I have a bit of a thing — and by that i mean obsession– with a special shade of blue. You can call it Tiffany blue, Eggshell blue, turquoise, Robin Egg blue or even Martha blue. I don’t care. What you call it makes no difference to me as long as I can get my hands on something with that color.

When I was putting together an inspiration board to decorate my apartment I realized there was quite a lot of this blue and I tried my best to control myself so I added other shades of light blue. Well, now I’m rambling. The point is. I love the color and have put together a collage of items that can give your home a splash of my favorite shade of blue.

You can get some of these at flea markets, Macy‘s, Etsy and Lamps Plus.

Louise Roe

I fell in fashion-love with Louise Roe from the moment she walked onto my TV screen on The City. I wondered who this composed chick was that was trying to take some of the spotlight away from Olivia and I automatically liked her. She always looks polished and poised and I loves to see these pictures, from the Coveteur of course, that show that her home is a little quirky as well.

Click HERE for more pics of her home.

Tuxedo

I’ve always liked women in menswear. It’s a sure hit when going for comfy casual any season, but I’ve never been a fan of how it tends to look for women as formal-wear. In my opinion, it mostly looks forced, but I definitely have to give credit where credit is due and say that all the looks that Anja Rubik wore for this May 2011 Vogue Paris editorial are impeccable. Everything from the styling, to the makeup to the tailored fit of the suits makes for a stylish and feminine girl out on the town.

Crushing on Stationary

I’m loving these love notes (or friendship notes) from Susy Jack* a cute stationary online shop that has extremely charming cards, clips and magnets.

I admit I’m a bit biased when it comes to stationary — I have a box of cards waiting to be sent — but these are too cute not to share

Yellow & Blue

I’m going to start this off by admitting I’m not very big on sunglasses. I stick to the classic big black frames and rarely venture away unless it’s for a cheap & fun pair to get me through a sunny summer day.

But these, oh these, had me falling in love at first sight (pun not intended). They have a classic shape that I adore, but with some fun coloring that adds a splash of fun. Gimmee.

Buy them (for me) here.

Who What Wear’s Power

The key to happiness in my closet is editing.

I only keep out the items that I am wearing

that moment, everything else is stored in bins

until the season (or my mood) changes.

I’m a big fan of fashion blogs, one of my favorites being Who What Wear. They’re genuine, fun and always have a unique edge in every new post.

I follow their tweets and read their blog daily, but it doesn’t seem to be enough. Check out this great insight into Katherine Power’s fashion and home on the Coveteur.

My favorite pictures are these, and after reading her descriptions for the pictures I will definitely try some editing in my own closet once summer starts.

Swimsuit Summer

Summer is almost here, and swimsuits are everywhere. I hope this summer is as full of swimsuits for you, as (i hope) it will be for me.

Below are my favorite picks for beachware from Net-A-Porter. A bit out of budget, but a girl can dream.

Miu Miu’s feminine take on the bikini.

A unique Missoni crochet one-piece

DVF knows how to pull off a one-piece. It’s sexy yet stylish.

Herve’s take on the popular monokini. As expensive as his mini dresses

An amazing coverup by Mara Hoffman

This DVF cover up would make any  beach outfit complete

I’ve caught the summer bug. Hope these cloudy and windy days go away soon.
